My Approach
My counselling style is warm, empathic, and genuine.
I prioritize the therapeutic relationship and believe that developing trust and safety is the most important part of the counselling process.
I incorporate experiential modalities in my work, which means that in addition to talking about past experiences, we will pay attention to emotions and sensations that occur during the counselling session.
Since graduate school, I have completed, and continue to attended advanced training and supervision in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). This is an attachment-informed, relational, somatic, and emotion-focused approach to psychotherapy.
Past experience
I completed a Masters of Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver BC. I have been honoured to work with adults, adolescents, and children around a variety of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, body image concerns, self-regulation, loss, and transitions. I received comprehensive training in working with individuals struggling with complex developmental trauma and attachment-related issues.
Prior to completing graduate school I worked and volunteered in diverse mental health and community agencies in Nelson, Victoria, Toronto and Vancouver, including those specializing in eating disorders, hospice care, and mood disorders. I have worked in provincially funded programs providing counselling for children and youth who have witnessed violence, and women who have experienced abuse.
